Giovanni and Ash were great. I was amazed at Gio’s preparation and narration and “Ash’s” driving skills especially the many tight, “backroads” situations.
My wife and I had a couple of hotel issues that Gio was very helpful in resolving.
We did the Enchanting Eastern England tour. Thoroughly enjoyed it, although you do need some fitness. Lots of walking and trying to keep up with guide. However, it was well-worth it. The guide was very knowledgeable. Bus driver was also extremely courteous and great to talk to. Bus was always clean. Saw plenty of cathedrals, visited lots of places and the accommodation was great. Some places we stayed were really amazing, others were fine. Bus genuinely took us on the backroads. Very good quality trip overall.
Both guide and driver were exceptional in their knowledge and very accommodating when emergency assistance was needed
Adequate number of days. Excellent tour leader in Charlie. Provided wonderful regional treats throughout the tour.
Well organized lots of historical sites
Good tour . Coach not crowded (9pax in 20 seat Mercedes Sprinter). First class guide.
Vg accommodation except one room. It was exactly what we were looking for.
This Tour was excellent - professional & friendly with very scenic & well-planned with places of interest (eg castles, stately homes, cathedrals etc) & enjoyable hotels & dining. Especially enjoyed the small group- size……
We enjoyed this tour. The places chose for us to visit ranged from very to not so interesting to us such as the National Horse Stud at Newmarket. The coach was a Mercedes Sprinter which was disappointing in that it was very cramped with narrow seats and not recommended for anyone with other than small to medium build. The coach did not have Wifi which I found very disappointing and inconvenient. Our driver was excellent and our tour director was very good but I strongly suggest that a person who is familiar with familiar with English culture and history from personal experience such as an English person would improve the experience.
Perfectly planned tour, smaller group allowed us to go down ‘back roads’ & be in the heart of rural communities. Sights visited were amazing, & accomodation & meals were good. Our group was terrific, lifetime friendships made, & all led by our exceptional tour guide Ben & very capably driven in the latest model Mercedes coach by our friendly driver Dmitry. Thank you Ben & Dmitry.
This was a relaxed, informative and varied tour. There was a good balance between stunning cathedral and castle visits and relaxed rambles around old towns and country estates. The small group number enabled good mingling with one another, something which can add much enjoyment to any touring. Our guide Ben Sims and driver Dimitry were excellent.
This tour was lovely , guided by a really good tour guide. Wish they got us in our hotels sooner so we could do afternoon tours a little refreshed . From 7 am starts to 4 pm is a long day . Just about everything else was spot on .
Allan was a lay back, relaxed tour guide and the itinerary was just what I wanted to see. I was delighted that we visited Newgate Stud. Amazing!
Was tired of seeing cathedrals and manor houses.
Felt an overnight stay in Lincoln and Cambridge was unnecessary.
Accommodation was of a very poor standard.
Tour leader’s attitude was a little abrupt.
Overall a good tour , hotels were not of a consistent quality, ok in Edinburgh, very good at Guisborough and Cambridge, not so good at Ringwood Hall and Lincoln, driver was safe and courteous, tour manager was very good, bus was always clean, sound system was crackling most of the tomey
A wonderful tour with a great mix of places of interest. Small group fantastic.
Very good experience. Well run and overall good service. Guide Gideon was interesting and informative. One of the hotels in particular was below expectations and not suitable for older people- the hotel lacked a lift and support in the bathroom was a problem. However I would use this company again and do recommend it.
Could not have asked for a better, more competent tour guide and driver. They exceded expectations.
I have seen eastern Britain in all its glory.
Everything met my expectations and needs
Our travels from Scotland down the East Coast to London was amazing. I took so many photos! From ruins and old castles, to quaint shops and beautiful open spaces, I feel there was something for everyone on this tour. We travelled with a small group of wonderful people.
on the whole the tour was quite good. Would have liked to see more of the culture in the area and less cathedrals and castles. The evening meals the tour provided were one of the down sides of the tour. I would rather you charge a little more and allow us to order from the menu. Each evening meal provided on the tour was the same - a choice of chicken, fish and pasta/risotto.
Interesting itinerary - guide had good knowledge of the area
Good - Itinerary, 2 night stays, most hotels, small group
Bad - no wifi on bus, not as much free time as advertised
Great history & a good select of locations
Enjoyed the group to travel with
The tour covered excellent highlights of eastern England and was flexible enough to include two extra stately homes to meet the specific interests of the group. Staying two nights in each hotel was comfortable and we didn't feel rushed. There were no early morning starts and often a chance to try an historic pub at the end of the day. The breakfasts were hearty and the five dinners were top class. Unfortunately our day in Cambridge was a Monday when museums and galleries were closed.
Interesting itinerary. Great to be smaller number of people. Good to have two night stays. Tour guide enthusiastic but a bit inexperienced, allowing the more aggressive customers to dictate pace of tour. Needed to take control. Initially also filled in allocated free time without offering the option to have as down time. Atmosphere of tour was impacted by frustration of others.
Loved the fact that we were the only ones on some of the back roads in England.
Thought it was great value for the price. Just showed up each morning and things were planned but there was free time to explore as well.
The tour was well planned and took us to places of interest to me. I enjoyed the planned excursions on the itinerary and the unexpected additional places we visited.
Great .. little more motorway than expected
Really was back roads!! Interesting.
Good service, enjoyed the sights and places we visited, most of all great company
This was an awesome trip.
The background knowledge and experience of the guide added much to the enjoyment of the tour. There was less focus on trendy aspects of the sites visited, and a deeper examination of all things historical that fed into the development of England and its institutions.
Very good, very friendly and well guided
Very poor choice of hotels. Repetitive and boring activities.poor quality coach. Very poor Covid policy and implementation of basic Covid safety precautions.
see above................
Poor quality accommodation badly organised very poor itinerary.
I am willing to pay a bit extra for boutique hotels, back road experiences, very small groups, and one-on-one experiences: in that, Blue Roads delivers almost consistently!
Enjoyed cathedral visits.
Interesting going to Lindisfarne.
Liked seeing different landscapes.
Enjoyed travelling with a varied group of people.
