Culloden and cooperage
“My two favourite highlights are the cooperage and Culloden...”
Culloden is an atmospheric village rich in history situated roughly five miles from Inverness, where guests gained a unique insight into The Battle of Culloden on this vast moorland. Our Scottish Journey tour takes the scenic route to this iconic village via the spectacular Cairngorms National Park. We also had time to stop off at a cooperage, the place of business for a cooper trained in making wooden casks or barrels. The Speyside Cooperage is unique for being the only working cooperage in the UK where you are able to experience the ancient art of coopering. For those engrossed with history, these two locations provide a truly memorable experience.
Tobermory
“One of my favourite parts was Tobermory, because I love all of the beautiful colours on the buildings”
Tobermory is the capital of the Isle of Mull in the Scottish Inner Hebrides. This charismatic town was originally built as a fishing port in the late 18th century and is characterised by its impressive colourful buildings set amongst the bay. The best way to experience the Hebrides is by island hopping so we set sail on a short, scenic ferry ride to encounter this stunning port town.
Luxurious hospitality
“We had a room that was fit for queens...”
Much like our carefully crafted itineraries, a lot of thought goes into selecting each place we stay; only the most characterful, authentic properties make the cut. On this particular trip, our group had the luxury of staying at Duisdale House amongst other luxurious hotels, which is an award-winning hotel on Skye’s southern Sleat Peninsula. Duisdale is part of the “Sonas” hotel collection meaning 'happiness' in Gaelic. This family run hotel group’s mantra is to “share the unique culture of the “Misty Isle” and excel in providing delicious local cuisine and genuine Highland Hospitality to each and every guest”.
Captivating insights
“It’s been an incredible learning experience and Rob is full of information and dates”
The best kind of adventure is one that introduces you to local experiences and sights whilst providing you with the time and space to explore independently. Our Tour Leaders are extraordinarily knowledgeable and where possible take time to personalise activities to suit guests' desires. Rob was brimming with excitement to welcome back his first guests of 2022 and takes pride in offering outstanding hospitality.
