It was a very good tour - good group of people & the driver, Phil & tour director Daz were excellent. Good itinerary with excellent hotels. Loved out time in the Cotswolds - driving through & visiting. Like all tours you couldn't do everything in the short number of days but we would have loved another day to have more time in Oxford & a visit to Wells.

We are an older couple and found the size of the tour and the program very suitable and highly informative about places visited.
Our group got on very well too ! We appreciated the flexibility in being able to opt out of one session and with some prior arrangement tailoring our walking activity if we felt it necessary. Our tour leader and driver were unfailingly cheerful and helpful. We also appreciated the free time allowances and two night stays. We attended a RSC performance in Stratford-on-Avon of Measure for Measure and loved it - on our ‘night off’. Longleat in the photo was a wonderful last day highlight.

Really enjoyed this tour. A good mix of organised activities and free time to explore.

Everything about the tour was perfect but it was our tour guide John and bus driver Phil that decided me to rate the tour as excellent. They were personable, caring and went above and beyond to make sure everyone was comfortable and having a good time. I cannot say enough good things about them.
Otherwise, the accommodations were adequate if not 5 star, the food offered was for the most part good and in some instances very good. It was nice to travel with a smaller more intimate group, in a smaller vehicle that had the ability to go where the big busses cannot.

Great experienced guide & driver with wealth of knowledge which enabled tour to flow seamlessly . Sites & accommodation were very good especially going off the normal beat & track.

I took part in this tour as the agenda gave a chance to visit places on my bucket list such as Oxford. I was not disappointed. The tour guide and driver were very professional and as a first time solo traveller I felt comfortable in a small group. I met and made friends on this trip and will look to doing other tours with Back Roads in the future.

Even though Heart of England was a short tour there was much depth in it content wise. What we saw and experienced we did in detail, it was not fleeting.

What a fabulous tour. I had always wanted to visit the English countryside and this tour was perfect. We visited many towns and villages. Our tour guide Terry was so informative and enhanced our experiences as we travelled. If you want a short tour, this one is ideal.

This was the 5th Back Roads tour that I did back to back and being a short tour it was the perfect way to end my time in the UK.
Terry Gibson is an excellent guide. He is very knowledgeable and took on board any requests from the guests in the group. He happily tweaked the itinerary when everyone expressed an interest in something other than what was detailed in the itinerary. He was happy to help guests if they needed it as was Phil the driver. They worked well together as a team to help make lovely memories for our group. Thank you Back Roads :-).

The Backroads Heart of England tour was wonderful and my highlights was the Shakespeare history in Stratford Upon Avon and the gorgeous Cotswold villages and the yellow stone dwellings.

The Back Roads Tour, The Heart of England, was absolutely wonderful. Our guide, John Kerr and driver, Dan, were exceptional. We were well informed of the background stories to the places we visited and local guides were a wealth of local knowledge. Throughout the tour our fellow travellers were friendly and inclusive. Our accommodation was extremely clean and comfortable and included meals were well presented, tasty and enjoyable. We were well looked after throughout the tour and would not hesitate to book another tour and highly recommend Back Roads to others.

This tour was more than we expected
Our bus was lovely and our tour guide Terry was absolutely amazing.
I would definitely tour with Back Roads again

As we were due to do a cruise around the British Isles, this tour was the perfect add on to see this beautiful part of the country. We couldn’t have been more impressed by the gorgeous scenery and achingly pretty little villages. Our guide Daz and driver Phil were an added bonus, they were just fabulous. We would certainly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see the true heart of England.

Excellent value and experience

This tour is wonderful. The places we went to were spectacular. It's hard to pick favourites, but mine were the Cotswolds and Bath.
I had an amazing time and as a solo traveller I was welcomed and befriended by all the other guests. I especially liked the small group size.
Our guide Terry Gibson was fantastic. He was so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Phillip, our driver was great. It was lovely that he joined on us on certain occasions.

The tour was excellent. The highlight was the Cotswold villages with their stone houses, thatched roofs and running streams. Our tour guide and driver provided a fun atmosphere. Hotels were of a good standard. Very enjoyable few days.

Guide Darren and driver Phil treated us to a fact and fun filled week around the Cotswolds. Darren’s commentary and banter was well received and added to the enjoyment and knowledge of this beautiful parts of England. Loved it.

Lovely villages, interesting history

Our tour guide, Lesley and driver, Dennis looked after us throughout the tour. Our bus was a great size and accessible to parking and areas larger buses wouldn’t be able to go, also easy to see out, so we could see the countryside as we toured the back roads. We enjoyed the villages we visited, the tours organised despite the rainy weather on one day. The tour of Oxford which was take. By a student was informative but lasted for 1 1/2hrs was too long. Longleat Stately Home tour was amazing. We enjoyed the tour, lots for us to see and make new memories.

It was a most enjoyable tour. My special thanks to the Tour Leader and to the Tour Driver for all that they did for us. I was happy with the places we visited and were well covered, plus their knowledge and hospitality leave me with the best of a great time.

Will recommend this wonderful tour to all my friends.

We were very much looking forward to this tour and in most aspects it did not disappoint. The beautiful countryside that we saw on the way to Oxford and in the Cotswold's was a feast for the eyes. A camera just does not capture the beauty, you need to see it to appreciate it.
We highly rate the tour of Oxford by a local guide as one of the highlights of this trip.
A low light was that Janice, our Tour Leader was unwell, not completing the tour. It was disappointing that Backroads did not have a real back up plan to ensure that we were given the optimum experience of the tour. Lee, the driver did his best but it's a hard ask expecting him to step up without notice.

The tour would be great for those who haven’t been to mid England before.
There was a huge amount of time by yourself to fill in. I would have preferred more to do eg be shown some of the local special spots or activities.
Bad weather didn’t help. But my fault for being in England at this time.
