Don’t know how it could be bettered!

Our tour of 17 travellers included couples and single women, who were of much the same age
We had a half hour get together at The Ashling Hotel, where we gave a little introduction of ourselves.
We then proceeded to enjoy a lovely dinner together and get to know each other a little more
We had a wonderful group, everyone was on time or early for each departure
We had plenty of free time to do our own exploring once our designated guided tours were completed. Plenty of information from our tour guide - Bernard on extra activities we could do. Loved all the games we played while travelling around on the bus
All accommodation was of a high standard along with all meals provided
Paddy was a great driver and nothing was too much trouble for him
September/ October was a really wonderful time to travel, not the crowds you have during peak season along with all the Autumn colours to enjoy
All in all a great introduction to the Southern isle

This was a great tour, Zi thought it was a long drive to Isle of Iona but it certainly was worth it.
Accommodation great except Malmaison in Edinburgh, very dark andno help carrying cases up two flights of stairs.

What a lovely way to see the best of Southern Ireland. Our tour guide Carolyn and bus driver Paddy were just the best and couldn't have looked after us any better. Their local information of all the places we visited was amazing and we felt very safe in Paddy's hands

Tour guide *Personal information removed by Feefo* was excellent, and very informative, *Personal information removed by Feefo* the driver couldn’t have been better. All the places we visited we very much enjoyed especially the National Stud. Our local guide in Kinsale very impressive. Hotels and food all top class, porterage most welcome. The only downside was a guide “shadowing” *Personal information removed by Feefo*, *Personal information removed by Feefo*, who was thoroughly obnoxious, arguing with my wife about her daughters’ illness, giving us information just before *Personal information removed by Feefo* did, shaking his head and rolling his eyes at everything she told us and constantly checking/texting on his mobile. Apparently he is the world expert on everything under the sun, according to him. We, and the rest of the passengers, kept changing seats to ensure no one had to sit next to him. As long as he wasn’t the guide we would happily book another Irish tour.

It was a great tour. We saw lots of different places with a tour leader who was informed, professional and easy to get along with. The addition of a shadow tour guide wasn’t such a good idea. He was disrespectful of the tour guide and spent an inordinate about of time on his phone. He reminded me of my teenage grandchildren

An excellent, short tour of Ireland that gives a good overall glimpse of some of the major offerings of the southern half of the island of Ireland.
The timings are very relaxed, and there is plenty of time on each day to enjoy the locality of the towns we visit. This is helped by the good quality and location of the hotels we stayed at. Another night in Kinsale or Waterford would have been wonderful.

Everything you would like to see in a tour of Southern Ireland. Our tour guide Liam was excellent and the driver did a great job.
I particularly enjoyed the National Irish Horse Stud and the Titanic exhibition.
So many wonderful things to see and do.

I thoroughly enjoyed my tour of Southern Ireland, and would recommend the company. Our tour manager Liam was excellent, kind and considerate. Our driver was also excellent with a great sense of humour. It was only 6 days but a most enjoyable 6 days. Thank you.

I would highly recommend this tour. Liam was the most amazing tour guide. His caring, his knowledge went above and beyond. Liam took so much care of each and every one of us throughout every step of the journey. Liam made sure that every detail was taken care of before we arrived, especially as we had our mother who is nearly 80. Every hotel was incredible.
The hotels were next level.

My first time in Ireland. A great introduction, with wonderful tour guide and excellent hotels. A good mix of town and country with spectacular scenery along the way.

The Irish are wonderful, friendly people. The tour showed us plenty of beautiful scenery as well as plenty of cultural immersive experiences (sheepdog trials and Celtic Steps dance and music).
The hotels where we stayed were all very comfortable and sometimes quite luxurious.
Porterage was handled well and efficiently.

The tour guide Bernard was fabulous and went out of his way to show us additional sights (Such as Titanic museum in Cobh & Silverware factory and Fashion museum in Waterford).
He was very kind, thoughtful, entertaining and informative.
We all felt safe with our coach driver Paddy at the wheel.

All said, I thoroughly enjoyed my Backroads tour of Ireland and would be happy to do another tour with this group!

We learnt so much about Southern Ireland and its history from a very informative tour guide. The best part of our Back Roads tour was that we got see, visit and stay at many places you would not normally visit.

A great trip. - definitely travelling back roads ( which is great)
It’s a small bus, and could be uncomfortable for those with long legs as the seats are very close together. Wi Fi would be helpful on the bus.
Hotels were all top quality, and the tour leader & driver were professional, friendly and caring.

I found the whole experience excellent and the tour guide was very friendly and after the first day of the tour it felt almost like we were a family traveling together.

The professionalism and care of the tour guide and driver were above and beyond. The selection of accomodation and the meals were wonderful. The small group and the friendships made the tour a real joy.
Southern Ireland? Beautiful, and we learned so much along the way.
We came home thoroughly pleased with our decision to do this tour.

A great introduction to Ireland

This tour was a great introduction to Ireland. We saw many places , heard great stories and history about this amazing country from our tour guide Liam and our driver Paddy. They both made our trip fantastic.

A well planned trip with lots of information and history. We stayed in beautiful hotels.

Great tour with excellent accommodation, included breakfasts and dinners were also of very good standard. Bernard was excellent tour guide/manager and Paddy was a very considerate coach driver with handling luggage, always parking in good locations etc. We didn’t want to do a “typical” tour of Ireland, we wanted good scenery and a more immersive experience and we certainly got just that.

Great concept, small group touring and travelling away from the highways. You get to enjoy the real Ireland and able to stay in some boutique hotels. Also arrive at your destination in time to enjoy what’s on offer.

This tour advertises itself as 6 nights and 7 days. That is not correct as it is really only 5 days and 6 nights which makes it even more expensive per day. I say this because Day 1 starts at 6pm with a meet and greet dinner so I didn’t consider this a ‘day’.
And the 7th day, the final day, is just a three hour coach ride from Waterford to arrive back in Dublin by noon with no sight seeing on the way.

The tour host Maura was wonderfull she couldn’t do enough for us & was so knowledgeable & fun throughout the tour. Paddy was an excellent driver, always a cheerful face when you got on the bus & a nice wish for a fun tour as we got off. The hotel accommodation was outstanding as were all of the breakfasts & the dinner nights. The tours were really interesting & varied & a lovely surprising one that we didn’t expect seeing Celtic Steps a great evening of Irish music & dancing. I highly recommend Back Roads Tours

Back Road Tours fulfilled our expectations splendidly, visiting back roads and staying in the best accommodation

Beautiful sunny weather and a likeminded group of 15 people made our tour of Southern Ireland very enjoyable. Our Irish guide had wonderful local knowledge and took us to places we’d have driven right past if we were on a self drive tour.
Accommodation was excellent. Highlights were where we met with the locals, and experienced “real” stories.

This is a delightful tour with places and points of interest all the way. Our tour guide Bernard was exceptional and driver Paddy the best.
The restricted number of passengers creates an ideal number for great interaction. It was a pleasure to make lovely friends with fellow passengers.

It was good the tour guide was good he explained things and was helpful and friendly and the driver was also.
I would like to suggest that back Roads should provide tags for the suit cases .

Only had 6 on the tour so experience somewhat skewed as plenty of room on the bus, no delays checking in/ out, no late comers etc
Itinerary fantastic. Great tour guide and bus driver. Days were filled but at a relaxed pace. Back roads enabled the experience of local villages. Sufficient rest stops. Flexible staff.

I went along on this tour as a guide trainee for BackRoads. This is a handy tour, lovely hotels (!), and the stops are well-timed. In fairness, the opportunities to do things that are not on the schedule make these tours especially unique for the clients. I enjoyed it and I look forward to guiding this tour this summer!

Great itinerary, spoiled a bit by the weather, which is inevitable in Ireland. Dublin is old, dirty and noisy, but outside the cities Ireland is green, fresh and interesting.

The best Irish experience

Great scenery and loved meeting people on the way.

It was well organised and we got to see a good deal of the country. However, I thought the Guide was not as keen and well informed as our previous guide on the Cornwall tour. Did not seem to mix with members of the group as I might have expected.

Overall it met all of our expectations. only a couple of things as I said about a couple of the visitations we had that we a bit boring. The only other issue was that we were a fair way out of town on a couple of occasions especially Kinsale where we would have loved to go into town. We could have went into town by taxi but was a bit hard and expensive.

The tour wasn’t really backroads. We went to all the regular tourist places. There are so many good places we could have visited if we’d started the tour in Cork and just seriously focused on that southern corner

Everything went smoothly. The itinerary was interesting and covered a wide variety of places. The only issue was the remoteness of the accommodation for Kinsale.
