28th July 2024Review ratingThis Tour was excellent. It was a small group of only 11 participants including 4 Canadians (myself, my son and grandson, and a good friend), 3 Australians, 3 New Zealanders and 1 American. Everyone was very friendly. The group of 11 was perfect for touring. Steve our Tour Director was very, very knowledgeable ie. he has his degree in WWI history. His knowledge of the sites, the battles, the Memorials, the Cemeteries, etc. was second to none. He was very personable and accommodating, taking any and all questions from everyone. There was equal opportunities for all of us relative to our countries participation in the war. Ken our driver was also excellent and took the time to make everyone comfortable and met all of our needs. He took care of all of the porterage at all hotel locations, and ensured that we were always on time. By the end of the tour, I had entered "information overload" relative to all of the details that had been provided by Steve and the numerous sites visited. There were a couple of long days on the trip and these were tiring for all of us on the Tour. It would have been advantageous to add another day to the Tour to provide more leisure time and a chance to recover from the pace of the tour. The highlights for myself were the visit to Beaumont Hamel, the Newfoundland Memorial and Vimy Ridge, the Canadian Memorial. All in all, the Tour was a wonderful, knowledgeable and rewarding experience; one which I would highly recommend.
