We were part of a Scottish Journey tour group which departed Edinburgh on 9 June, 2019. Having been on Back Roads tours previously we were looking forward to this trip. Unfortunately, we were bitterly disappointed. The tour leader, was inexperienced with only a basic knowledge and understanding of Scotland and on a number of occasions, provided incorrect factual information. For many miles we travelled in silence as the tour leader failed to have information to share with the group. He was also unprofessional, sharing his life story and personal problems with the group. The hotels on this tour, particularly The Glenforsa Hotel, failed to live up to the Back-Roads guarantee of “charming boutique accommodation”. A number of rooms at The Glenforsa were smelly, some hairdryers appeared grubby, the inside of some jugs discoloured and the towels threadbare. However, the view was pleasant. It’s a shame Back Roads don't ensure all tour leaders meet the high standard for which they are famous.

Excellent experience with guide and driver who interacted with and were part of the group. Went out of their way to give meaningful commentary and superb photo opportunities.

This was a very interesting tour, Scotland has such a wonderful diversity of scenery. If there were a fault, maybe more personalised one off tours could be organised like the private tour of Duart castle. It would have Been nice to have seen a piper, for instance after all its what you think of Scotland
